MedKoo CAT#: 572032
Description: IHN 42710, also known as N-(Propargyl-PEG4)-biocytin is a biotin PEG derivative containing a carboxylic group and an alkyne group. Reaction of carboxylic with primary amino (-NH2) forms stable, irreversible amide bonds. The alkyne group can react with azide moiety in Cu(I)-catalyzed Click Chemistry reaction to form a stable triazole linkage. The hydrophilic PEG spacer increases solubility in aqueous media and increases membrane impermeability of the molecules conjugated to the biotin compound. This product has not formal name. For the convenience of scientific communication, we named it by combining its Inchi key (3 letters from the first letter of each section) with the last 5 digits of its CAS number or its molecule weight if its CAS number is not available (see MedKoo Chemical Nomenclature, https://www.medkoo.com/page/naming).
