Taken together, human African trypanosomiasis (HAT), Chagas disease, and leishmaniasis are responsible for 4.4 million disability adjusted life years (DALY) and 70,000 deaths annually.1 Caused by the protozoan parasites Trypanosoma brucei, T. cruzi, and Leishmania spp., respectively, these diseases are spread through insect vectors across Latin America, Africa, and parts of southern Asia.
