Information about this agent

Full genome array analyses involving revealed that UNBS5162 is a cytostatic compound that appears to interfere in vivo with amino acid metabolism in hormone-refractory prostate cancer cells.
Amino acid metabolism perturbations relate to ERS and UPR. UNBS5162 displays anti-tumor activity in orthotopic human xenografts of prostate cancer and NSCLC models, and in subcutaneous models of human breast cancer xenografts.  Ongoing in vivo experiments aim to demonstrate that UNBS5162 sensitizes various types of cancers to the cytotoxic effects of pro-apoptotic drugs and to radiotherapy

According to Unibioscreen 's website, The UNBS5162 IND has been cleared by the FDA early July 2008. The Phase I trial is currently being conducted under the supervision of Daniel Von Hoff, M.D. at TGen Clinical Research Services at The Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center at Scottsdale Healthcare, Mayo Clinic Scottsdale and the University of Arizona Cancer Center Tucson.
On August 22, 2008, Unibioscreen and Drais Pharmaceuticals have entered into a global agreement to develop and commercialize UNBS5162.
